    Orbea adopts Avinox M2S and connects the derailleur, control buttons, dropper, and shock - goodbye wireless modules and batteries! - what about the fork, ABS?

    Orbea launches the Wild LT range under the slogan "The Yes Machine", featuring advanced integration of the DJI Avinox M2S motor system optimized with proprietary RS technology and CANbus connectivity. The new platform includes 6 models (prices ranging from 5,599 to 13,499 Euros), optimizing the control of the dropper and shock via wired connections, increasing motor response sensitivity and reducing the required pedal rotation for assistance. Goodbye batteries and wireless controllers on electric bikes, all are wired to the central battery!

    What are Nm, Wh, W, what do the numbers mean, and what do manufacturers not want you to know about power in electric bikes – Part I – about batteries

    What do manufacturers hide about e-bike power? The voltage and capacity on the technical sheet do not tell the whole story. While classic configurations with 40 cells (21700) limit energy delivery to prevent overheating, the new DJI Avinox system (with custom Ampace 50480 cells) changes the game. By adopting Tabless technology from the automotive industry, the new battery massively reduces internal resistance and delivers a record power of 1500W for 6 minutes, where other systems are limited to 1300W. 🔍 Read in the article how the physics of Lithium cells translates directly into trail performance!

    From 9 to 14 gears: The wireless revolution coming from China and the BikeVerse experiment (Episode 1)

    From 9 speeds in 2008 to today's wireless madness with 12 speeds. We analyze how manufacturers from China have surpassed giants Shimano and SRAM by launching the first configurable 14-speed external drivetrains, not locked to a specific type of system. The technological leaps have left marks on our wallets. In this first episode, we examine how we have evolved as occasional mechanics in the face of new technologies, what the 'young wolves' like WheelTop bring to the table, and how we kick off an experiment: testing a 14-speed derailleur on current 12-speed (XC, Enduro) and 7-speed (DH) systems. A series of ordered parts, installations, tests, impressions, and results are coming up.

    Floating rotors for MTB: real upgrade or just expensive bling for your bike?

    Floating rotors are MTB brake discs directly inspired by motorcycling, constructed from two pieces: a steel braking surface and a central aluminum spider. The system allows for a small controlled movement of the disc, helping to better manage temperature and reducing the risk of warping on long descents. They are especially popular on enduro, downhill, and e-bike bicycles, where brakes are heavily stressed. In addition to the technical advantages, they have also become a valued upgrade for their premium appearance and 'factory racing' look.

    SRAM reorganises the Eagle line: S100, S200 and S500 AXS take over from GX, X01 and XX1

    SRAM melts XX1, X01, GX, NX and SX Eagle into three simple tiers — S100, S200 and S500 AXS — all E-MTB ready, compatible with each other and with existing 10–50 / 10–52 cassettes. Eagle Transmission stays separate, for UDH frames, and the new UDH Half Mount adds extra robustness on the S100.

    Brava Park in Bran officially opens the 2026 season on 1 May and becomes the first bike park in Romania to kick off the fun this year.
