Frequently asked questions
What bike for a 5-year-old child?
At age 5, average height is around 113 cm. We generally recommend 16" wheels, suited for the 105-120 cm range. Check your child's actual height before ordering.
Are 16" wheels right at age 5?
Age alone is not enough. A 5-year-old can be shorter or taller than average. If their height is outside 105-120 cm, pick the size from our guide by centimetres, not years.
My 5-year-old is taller than their peers. What should I do?
If they exceed 120 cm, consider wheels larger than 16". If they are under 105 cm, a smaller size will give more control. Height beats age when choosing a bike.
What gear do you recommend for a 5-year-old?
A properly sized helmet, gloves and knee pads for first rides. Check brakes and tyre pressure before every outing. At age 5, adult supervision still matters in traffic and on new trails.
